Torgoen Salutes Female WWII Pilots with New Watch Line
Torgoen Swiss is known for making watches for pilots that combine style with quality and the new WASP collection is no exception. Inspired by the pioneering Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), the series is designed for the female aviation enthusiast who also loves her fashion.
This group of fashionable and functional timepieces is a fitting tribute to the intrepid female pilots who flew a total of over 60 million miles for the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. For their gallant service, these pilots were awarded a Congressional Gold Medal in 2009.
The brandโs first watch for women, the T11 WASP is a stylish quartz number with a Swiss made Quartz Ronda 5030.D movement that sports a 30 minute and 12 hour counter encased in a sapphire crystal cover. The WASP collection is available in a variety of colors and with or without gems.
The 36mm WASP watch is water resistant to 10ATM (330 ft.) and is made from solid high-grade stainless steel. There are several models with various colors and straps selling for $450 to $490. There are also two premium models adorned with 72 0.45-carat diamonds that will come with price tags of $1,190 and $1,290.
Torgoen President Benzi Rosenski had this to say about the new collection: โWeโre so pleased to be able to introduce a true chronograph for women pilots and flight enthusiasts that sacrifices absolutely nothing in terms of functionality. The WASP is stylish, practical, and is immediately recognizable as a Torgoen, which means, like all of our watches, itโs appropriate for the cockpit or a night on the town.โ
Why should the guys have all the fun? Now the ladies can have a high-flying chronograph from Torgoen, too.
