One of the most star-studded events of Miami’s recent Art Week was the opening of the Hublot Galerie, the brand’s 11th freestanding boutique in the U.S. The Galerie is located in the trendy Miami Design District and will offer the Hublot Limited Editions so popular with collectors.
The event was kicked off with a special sprint race along a track in front of the boutique led by Hublot brand ambassador Usain Bolt. The race was in support of the Usain Bolt Foundation.
The installation was revealed to the public for the first time a gala event the day before at the Bal Harbour Boutique that was hosted by Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe with guests Rick DeLaCroix, acclaimed artist Mr. Brainwash and special guest Eva Longoria. Guadalupe and Mr. Brainwash presented a piece of art to Longoria that will benefit her Eva Longoria Foundation.
In addition to being a famous actress best known for her role on the TV show “Desperate Housewives,” Longoria is an entrepreneur, producer and philanthropist who has worked tirelessly to aid causes for children.
Guadalupe explained why Hublot was opening the new location. “We believe that the Design District is the future of Miami. With its al fresco shopping mall and restaurants, it has become the coolest place to be. The Design District is arty with its many galleries and Pop Art vibe. We therefore wanted to take inspiration from this and create a boutique with a new gallery-inspired design.”
The celebration continued after the Bal Harbour event with an intimate dinner on a private yacht and party at the Casa de Suenos Estate in Miami Beach, the lavish waterfront estate of JR and Lauren Ridenger. Party guests included Mr. Brainwash, Longoria, Russell Simmons, Swizz Beatz, Sammy Sosa and celebrity couple Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The Disney darling turned pop star and the son of movie star/California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had been raising eyebrows all over Miami with Cyrus’s revealing outfits and the pair’s nonstop partying.
For those not familiar with Mr. Brainwash, the Paris-born, Los Angeles based artist is known for his subversive street-style art that combines contemporary culture and historic pop imagery. MBW, as the artist is called, did the cover art for Madonna’s 2009 album “Celebration” and promotional art for the 2011 album “I’m with You” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers
