Limited Edition Bond Watch Coming from Omega
One of the many reasons to watch James Bond films is to check out the superspy’s enviable collection of toys. No, not the Bond girls, the luxurious collection of autos, boats and other goodies like the impressive Omega Seamaster watch that has been worn by every actor to pay 007 since 1995’s “GoldenEye.”
Current Bond Daniel Craig made a recent trip to the Omega factory in Villeret, Switzerland to observe the making of the watch he wears in the latest film “Spectre” which will be released in the U.S. on November 6. This timepiece, the Omega Seamaster 300 “Spectre,” is a limited edition engraved with the serial number on the case back beside the “Spectre” film logo.
The Seamaster 300 “Spectre” is powered by the Omega Master co-axial caliber 8400 and has a bi-directional rotating 12-hour diving bezel crafted from polished black ceramic along with a proprietary zirconium-based alloy called “LiquidMetal.” Adding to the cool vibe of this watch are “lollipop” central seconds hands, a five-stripe black/gray NATO strap and gun logo engraved on the strap holder.
The Seamaster 300 “Spectre” will be the first timepiece from a Bond film released to the general public. Only 7,007 pieces of his limited edition will be available in select boutiques starting in September. Past Bond watches have been issued only as commemorative editions.
So was the star of the 24th Bond movie impressed by his tour of the Omega factory? “I think what was so impressive was the fact that these watches are made from the ground up,” Craig stated. “You start with nothing, and then there’s suddenly a working watch. That’s the beauty of it.”
Given the type of dangerous adventures that James Bond is prone to getting into, his watch must work very, very, well in addition to adding to his suave, sophisticated image.
