Seiko Giugiaro Design Chronograph
Japanese watchmaker Seiko has recently unveiled the new rebooted version of the Seiko Giugiaro Design Chronograph which is an affordable wristwatch designed by studio Italdesign Giugiaro and comes with Astron GPS.
Back in 1983, the company started making this unusually designed watches with asymmetric casing and was styled by Italian automobile designer Giorgetto Giugario. The reason behind such a design was to make it easier to access and use the chronograph buttons while driving.
The new Seiko Giugiaro Design Chronograph is based on the design patterns of its first 1983 model that is a bit protruded towards the right. The watch case measure 46.3mm in diameter with black-coated titanium and a black ceramic bezel with a tachymeter movement.
The distinct black dial has got some slight color accents of red and green representing the Italian flag. The dial acts as a solar panel giving power energy for the 8×82 movement and syncs one day in a month with the GPS satellite for spot-on time keeping.
In case there in no satellite range, it might run up to 15 minutes in a month and so. In addition to the normal time-keeping functionality, this watch can show calendar, second-time-zone, and some world time functions.
The Seiko Seiko Giugiaro Design Chronograph with Astron GPS will be made available in May 2017, for a price of €3250 internationally and ¥324,000 in Japan.
