Seiko Celebrates 50th Anniversary with New Marinemaster Models
What does a professional diver depend on almost as much as his gear? His diving watch of course and for the last 50 years many divers have been depending on the reliable timepieces by Seiko. Now the brand is celebrating its anniversary by launching two new Marinemaster Professional models.
The Marinemaster Professional 1000m Diver’s model is an update of the original 1975 version with its two-layer case construction that is a hallmark of Seiko’s watches for professional divers. The inner case combined with the L-shaped gasket and screw-down glass fixing ring guarantees that no matter how deep the diver dares to go, the Marinemaster Professional 1000m will resist all leaks.
New additions to the Marinemaster Professional 1000m Diver’s watch include a mechanical caliber specially adjusted for the timepiece, hands and markers coated with a new version of Seiko’s Lumibrite that keeps its glow 60% longer and a strap of extra-strength silicone.
The Marinemaster Professional 1000m Hi-Beat 36,000 is a limited edition with a one-piece titanium case that makes it impermeable to helium and ideal for saturation diving. Screws at the 6 and 12 o’clock positions keep the rotating bezel securely attached to the case. This model also uses Seiko’s Lumibrite for enhanced visibility at any depth and comes with both an expendable titanium bracelet and extra-strength black silicone strap. Just 700 pieces of the Seiko Marinemaster Professional 1000m Hi-beat 36,000 will be made and each will bear its own serial number.
The Seiko Marinemaster Professional 1000m Divers watch has a list price of Euro 3,450 or approximately $3,700 USD. The Marinemaster Professional 1000m Hi-Beat 36,000 goes for Euro 6,400 or $6,900 USD.
It was back in 1965 that Seiko introduced Japan’s first diver’s watch, a model that was automatic and water resistant to 150m. Since then, the brand has continued to create watches that perform like champions in or out of the water.
