Samsung Gear S2 Smartwatches in Stores Friday
If youโre planning to ask Santa to drop a smartwatch in your stocking this holiday season, youโll have to be specific because the jolly old guy will have quite a few to choose from. One more wearable device will be hitting stores on Friday, ready to do battle with the Apple Watch.
Samsung Electronics America, Inc. has announced that the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches will go on sale this Friday, October 2. Like many of the latest additions to the market, these new Samsung devices have round faces for a more elegant appearance. At just 11.4mm, the Gear S2 models are slim and light but still loaded with features.
The Samsung Gear S2 watches have a 1.2โ circular Super AMOLED display with 360×360 resolution and 302ppi. On the inside is 4GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. These sleek smartwatches are powered by an optimized 1.0 GHz dual core processor running Tizen OS that is compatible with Samsung smartphones as well as most newer Android phones. The 250mAh Li-on battery offers wireless charging and 2-3 days of battery life.
The long list of smartwatch features include messages, email, contacts and notifications. Built-in health and fitness apps are S Health and Nike + Running plus the Gear S2 models have a music player with Samsung Milk Music. Also on board are S Voice, Voice Memo, Find My Device, Power Saving Mode and Privacy Lock.
The Samsung Gear S2 will be available on October 2 at online retailers Samsung.com, Amazon.com, Best Buy and Macyโs. On that day the Gear 2 will make its in-store debut at Best Buy and Macyโs Herald Square before hitting 50 more Macyโs locations on October 16.
Prices are $299.99 for the Gear S2 and $349.99 for the Gear S2 Classic.
