In for review is a watch that most enthusiasts are already quite familiar with these days. For those who are not familiar with the brand.. you’re welcome. Lum-Tec is known for their well-built quality watches and outstanding lume, which brings me to the M Series of their collection. Combined with a variety of styles to choose from, currently 25 in the M Series including quartz movements, there’s a style that will fit any enthusiasts liking and needs. Today I will be discussing the M68, a 300m automatic “nightlight” that I’m sure many will agree to be a great timepiece.

The M Series from Lum-tec is no stranger to the watch industry, and while most will argue this watch has already been covered enough, it’s still a watch that’s well worth covering. Lum-Tec does run a limited number of watches per series (175 with the M68 specifically), so if you do like or plan to pick up the watch direct from Lum-Tec, the sooner the better. I’ve had this particular watch in hand for a bit of time now and have worn it from the office to backyard BBQ’s, and have to say I’m very pleased with the style and quality of the timepiece. One thing I will mention is with the 14.5mm case thickness, it does make wearing the watch with a dress shirt (sleeves down) a bit difficult, but if it’s a casual Friday and sleeves rolled, the M68 does the job quite nicely.

One of the sure things that stands out with the M68 is the dial. Equipped with a gunmetal gray sunray dial and backfilled with the orange MDV technology, the M68 really pops and draws the attention of the eye. What do I mean by backfilled? Lum-Tec uses CNC technology to cut through the dial, which is then backfilled with MDV technology lume and is used throughout the entire dial, giving the dial a feel of depth or “sandwich”. Even the sword shaped hour and minute are backfilled and loaded with lume. Prominent 12, 3, 6 and 9 etched numerals are used with a legible date window located between the 4 and 5-hour markers. Overall the dial of the M68 is fairly minimalistic yet prominent and easily legible. The compliments that accompany the dial are nice, too.
