The dial in darkness is very ledigable due to the Super LumiNova paint. Even with the watch in daylight, if held at a certain angle, you will be able to see the Lum of this watch trying to break through. The Arabic numerals, larger hour markers, and hour/minute hands are the only luminated features on the dial, making it extremely easy and litigable at night.
The leather straps used by Shinola for their lines of watches are of the highest quality. Constructed from Horween leather, each leather strap is cut, hand stitched, and stamped by Eric Scott. The straps measure in at a width of 24mm at the lugs, and tapers down to 22mm. The buckle and buckle tongue are constructed from stainless steel and measure an inner width of 22mm, and total buckle width of 28mm. One added feature to the buckle is the signature lightening bolt placed on the inside portion. On the inner side of the buckle strap you will see the “Built In The United States” and “Horween Leather” stamp, and has one fixed loop as well as one free loop to secure the opposing strap.
The 6 o’clock strap has a total of 10 adjustment holes, and has the Shinola lightening bolt and “Shinola” stamped into the reverse side. Both straps have a contrasting white stitching that compliments the stainless steel case, while the inner stitching of the straps is tan in color and blends nicely into the straps.
So not that we have covered The Runwell 47mm head to toe, whats the verdict? Overall I am very pleased with The Runwell 47mm. I have worn this watch over the past couple of weeks, and automatically reach for it on a daily basis. I have received multiple compliments, whether business or casual dressed, on this timepiece. Also, being one of those people that like a great presentation and attention to detail, I personally feel Shinola does a fantastic job in this department.
With the price tag of this watch at $550, there really is only one option that I wish Shinola would have brought to the table. Automatic movement. Yes, you are getting a great quality piece. Yes, when you pick up the watch, you feel and know its well constructed, but automatic movement would have put this watch on a whole new level. Yes, you are getting a sapphire crystal and high quality leather, but I still think with a price tag in the $500’s, an automatic movement is not asking for too much. I look forward Shinola’s future lines and will eagerly be anticipating the addition of automatic movements to their collections.

Thanks for a thorough review if the watch. I like how you will say what you don’t like as well, adding balance and making this a proper review. Too many watch ‘reviews’ today on other popular watch review sites are pretty much press releases that look like reviews.
Do you know how these are selling? Have they taken off?
The Shinola is obviously a quality timepiece;
however, the Shinola website could describe the watch better.
It is difficult to determine which watches that have illuminated numerals in the dark.
The Chinola, that I acquired, has illuminated hour markers, but the numerals are not lit during darkness.
Nevertheless, I am very pleased with my purchase.
However, I do wish the description, of the watch models, was more complete.
Shinola make great, beatuful watches.
I am a watch collector and i must say, the quality of the Runwell is exceptional
I have your Shinola Argonite 1069, what is the number for the battery?
Thank you
