Dubai Watch Week Coming in October

Over the last few years Dubai has become one of the world’s top destinations for luxury shopping. The city’s watch marketplace is a center for sales of luxury timepieces with an impressive volume and outstanding selection. That’s why it’s so exciting that the first Dubai Watch Week will be taking place October 18 – 22 at the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Attendees will be treated to five days filled with retail events, educational seminars, round table discussions and a sneak peek at watches coming up for auction as well as the chance to view the pieces that will be displayed at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve industry awards show.

The main force behind Dubai Watch Week is the luxury retail group Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. In an interview with Ariel Adams of Forbes Life, Hind Seddiqi, CMO of Seddiqi Holdings, explained how the event came to be and what visitors can expect.

“In 2013, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons organized the first Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) tour to ever take place in the region, and the feedback from the industry experts and connoisseurs was even greater than anticipated,” said Seddiqi.

“Since then, we have been developing a dedicated horology event to provide both established and emerging collectors and watch enthusiasts with the opportunity to enhance their understanding, network with industry experts, and examine the latest innovations in watchmaking.

“Dubai Watch Week will offer a journey of discovery into the world of fine watchmaking through a cultural and educational platform that will include exhibitions, forums, watchmaking master-classes, and an auction.

“Dubai Watch Week is a non-commercial fair that sets to attract key industry influencers from the global watchmaking sector,” continued Seddiqi. “The event will offer a unique opportunity to be part of the only regionally dedicated, educational and cultural horology program. Attendees will engage with some of world’s most recognized watch personalities, collectors, experts and brands during a five-day event taking place in the Dubai International Financial Centre.”

That’s why Dubai will be the place to be for watch lovers starting on October 18, 2015.
