Cognito Smartwatches Feature OLED Displays
When it comes to introducing a new smartwatch, not all the action is happening at IFA in Berlin. A handsome (and reasonably priced) collection of smartwatches from Cognito just made its debut at the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair.
All pieces in the new Cognito smartwatch collection have a high-res OLED display overlaid by three hands for the look of a traditional analog timepiece. This may make the line more appealing to lovers of old-fashioned watches than the geeky rectangular faces of many wearables from tech brands.
Still, these are definitely smartwatches with content like notifications, called ID and calendar items displayed on the face. Cognito watches will work with either iOS or Android smartphones and tablets.
The embedded fitness tracker works independently of the phone or tab to monitor steps, distance and calories. For activities that involve water, the Cognito smartwatches are water-resistant to 5 atmospheres.
Standing out from this set of wearable devices is the brandโs first line for ladies. With 40mm stainless steel cases in silver or rose-gold finish and the choice of a 20mm Milanese mesh bracelet or a beige leather strap, these Cognito smartwatches are a bit more feminine than their counterparts for the guys. A silvered sunray dial accented by Roman numerals and gemstones adds just enough sparkle.
The menโs watches are distinguished by a black and silver sunray finish dial with luminescent numbers and indexes. All have a 44mm stainless steel case with 22mm genuine leather strap in black or brown.
One big selling point for the Cognito smartwatches is battery power. While many competing devices require a nightly charge, these watches are powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery good for a whole month before getting a new charge through USB.
Another selling point is the price. Smartwatches in the Cognito collection start at $199.99.
