Christie’s Dubai Auction Offers 160 Luxury Watches
It’s time for another Important Watch auction from Christie’s and this one offers 160 fine timepieces that are estimated to bring sums of $2,000 to $350,000. The auction of luxury watches will take place in Dubai on Wednesday, October 21 at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers. Bidding begins at 7:00 pm but all items may be examined October 18 through October 21.
One watch by Richard Mille is described by Christie’s as “a very fine and rare limited edition magnesium-aluminum tonneau-shaped skeletonised wristwatch.” The signed Richard Mille, Rafael Nadal chronofiable certified model No. 044 is estimated to bring in $50,000 to $100,000.
One of the most expensive models is from Patek Philippe and is described as “a very fine and rare platinum rectangular tourbillon chronometer wristwatch with 10-day power reserve, original certificate and box, factory sealed.” This 2008 timepiece is estimated to sell for $160,000 to $260,000.
Another Patek Philippe is called “an extremely rare and attractive platinum limited edition automatic world time wristwatch with green dial, original certificate and box.” The estimated price for this watch is $100,000 to $150,000.
The most expensive item for this Important Watch auction is a Patek Philippe that is described as “an extremely fine and very rare stainless steel cushion-shaped split seconds chronograph wristwatch with Breguet numerals, additional case back, original certificate and box, factory sealed.” The price? $250,000 to $350,000.
36 of the luxury watches offered are by Rolex, followed by Patek Philippe with 19, Audemars Piguet with 14, Piaget with nine and Vacheron Constantin with eight. Also represented are Cartier, Jaeger Le-Coultre, Omega, Gerald Genta, Panerai, Hublot, Breguet and more. Most pieces are from the modern period but there are also models from the pre-war and vintage eras.
