Omega has announced the newest version in their series of James Bond branded watches. This Seamaster celebrates the 50th anniversary of of the 007 films. Based on the “Bond” style Seamaster 300 M platform, these anniversary editions feature either 41 or 36.25 mm stainless steel cases and ceramic bezels which have had the 50 minute marker dressed up in red.
The dial features a less-than-subtle 007 design repeated across its surface and a date window at three o’clock. This COSC certified model is powered by the Omega 2507 automatic Co-Axial movement with a special rotor featuring a design that looks like a bullet. As this is a Seamaster, the predictable 300m water resistance and a manual (crown operated) helium escape valve are still present.
With the next Bond film, Skyfall, slated for a 2012 release it is of little surprise that Omega would produce another Bond watch. It is however, a little surprising that Omega chose the 300m Seamaster design as the current Bond (Daniel Craig) has been outfitted with a Planet Ocean in the last two films.
Luckily, if you want to commemorate 50 years of James Bond with a limited edition Omega, you shouldn’t have too much trouble tracking one of these down. Omega will produce 11,007 of the 41 mm version and 3,007 of the 36.25mm version which is definitely a large run for a limited edition. Ultimately, I am only a casual James Bond viewer and not likely the target group for such a watch made for collectors and Bond franchise fanatics. With Skyfall hitting theaters this year, what watch do you think Bond will be wearing? We expect to see Bond sporting a new 8500 based Planet Ocean but let us know your guess in the comments.

Is it just me or has Omega lost some of it’s appeal? For some reason it doesn’t have the brand identity it once had. My .02ย

I love Omega watches and they make up the majority of my collection. However, I refuse to buy a “Bond” watch b/c of the 007 branding on the face! I own one of the Michael Schumacher watches and the only place the branding is found is on the BACK of the watch whereas the face itself has atypical colors/design. THAT’s how you do a special edition watch, not with this kind of thing. Hell, I liked the gun barrel one, but didn’t buy it because of the 007 hand! Take out the 007s and you have a sexy watch. With ’em, it’s cheesy.
I am in 100% agreement. Put the branding on the case back like the new IWC Top Gun, and get rid of the cheesy dial, hands etc.
Addย another one to theย list of lame 007 ‘limited’ edition Omegas.
007 drives an Aston and wears a Rolex Sub, but in the dark days of Pierce Brosnan he drove a BMW (neither british nor high end) and wore an Omega.
That said I like Daniel Craig wearing a Planet Ocean, his 007 is an orphan, chip on his shoulder, underdog.ย In that sense I think it’s a nice analog to the Submariner which has become the old guard (boring) standard, something the Planet Ocean is directly challenging.

This watch however is lame, 007 would not actually wear a watch that said 007 on it. That doesn’t make any sense! If anything a cool color combo, perhaps similar to the 50th GMT would be more appropriate. It should also be a PO.
Omega should drop Bond association and grow beyond it. Omega makes far better watches than Bond would actually wear and wore. Rolex, when Bond wore it, was not the same Rolex now. Rolex would not associate itself with Bond anymore and so should Omega. Drop it and move on Omega. Then again, Bond marketing works for certain uninitiated segment of the population. Still, Omega should drop it and find another association.
I do definately agree on “Henry”s post, the bond thing feels old fashioned. Theย seamaster is still timeless tho, this one and the rolex sub ss is jsut pure perfection…
What is the price
Love the watch … guess I’m part of the new generation of watch owners!
What a stunning piece of work, we’d love to work on a piece like this just because it’s a Bond’s watch and some of us here at SwissWatchMakers are big fans. If any of you need repair on one of these beauties contact us on our site http://www.swisswatchland.com of course we work on many other models and brands.
As long as there square measure right created timepieces there’ll
continually be a requirement for watch repairs and there’ll continually be a
requirement for artisans in this line of labor. There is a fascination with an
honest watch movement that is simply totally appreciated with a skeleton watch.
These watches have a transparent face or back so the movement will be seen.
Jewelry and watch repair are nice businesses. have you ever
thought of however good Phones are like jewelry? The iPhone is sort of a
“Swiss Watch” , is not it? Why not repair them? may you employ a
straightforward further $50k a year? place the pedal down a trifle tougher, and
“$100k can build your day” and your year!
