NBA Star John Wall Talks Luxury Watches
In the five years since he emerged as the number one pick in the 2010 NBA draft, John Wall has transformed his team the Washington Wizards from perpetual also-rans to serious contenders. At 24, Wall has matured from a raw recruit to a sophisticated man of the world and one sign of that maturity is his taste in fine timepieces.
In an interview with Haute Time, Hall discussed his collection of luxury watches. Unlike some athletes, Hall prefers simplicity to overdone glitter. “I don’t like them too flashy,” he said. “I think they complement and emphasize style. That’s the reason I really like them.”
Among Hall’s favorites are the contemporary sports watches by Richard Mille, and he has plans to add one to his collection in the near future. “I don’t like my watches iced out. I prefer to keep things simple and elegant,” he explained. “Sometimes you want to walk around and be casual. His watches are really exciting.”
Not every timepiece in Wall’s collection is an understated classic. He chose to take a walk on the wild side with the Hublot King Power Unico King Gold that adorns his wrist in the photo shoot that accompanied the article.
Wall also has a yen for fine automobiles, having recently acquired a new Ferrari, but he has more on his mind than spending all of his money on luxuries. The NBA star has set up the John Wall Family Foundation to encourage urban youth via back to school programs as well as supporting other charities. Wall feels that it’s never too soon to start being a mentor and a role model for today’s youth. “I want to get that going now,” he stated. “Start early.”
