Lum-tec Combat B 2015 Concept

Following up with their success of the Combat B line, Lum-tec has recently shown concept renderings of the Combat B 2015. This new Combat B, would be not only an affordable quartz option, but the case made of a new material for Lum-tec: Aluminum. 6061 Aircraft Grade aluminum to be exact. I personally am not familiar with aluminum watches , so this is something that has intrigued me. Lum-tec has stated that the process they will be using, (hard anodizing), which will come in colors of black, dark gray, clear and tan, will make it very durable and scratch resistant. They have shown a few different colors so far, and two different concepts, a Swiss quartz GMT and a quartz chronograph version.

For the GMT version, they are hoping to have priced around $475 (No word on quartz chrono pricing as of yet).  If what they have stated is true, this will give you a lightweight and durable watch, with swiss quartz movements, sapphire crystals and of course the fantastic Lum-tec MDV technology lume, for quite an affordable price.

The current plans are to use their existing Combat B case size, which is 43mm with 22mm lugs. This would make it a great in-between size for many, and for myself, would be perfect. The GMT concept is using “phantom” text for the GMT track, and a smaller GMT hand to make the dial less cluttered.

I am hoping they follow through with this concept and it comes to reality in 2015. So far, it looks very promising. I hope to see a few more dial and hand colors as well, such as dark grey dial with blue hands and numbers, and possibly a white or cream dial with vintage hands and numbers.
