Jorg Gray, founded in 1998, began solely as an American specialty private-label watch company but has made the move into the world market. Jorg Gray is known for being both fashionable and modern with visually appealing designs and styling.  As part of the Sports Collection from Jorg Gray, model JG8700-11 fits the mold of the fashionable and modern vision of the brand.

The packaging is fairly typical with an outer black sleeve and an interior black and gray cardboard 2-piece box. Inside the box is a nice leatherette style flip-top style jewelry case containing the watch. The watch rests on a soft black pillow, which is snug inside the jewelry case so the watch will not be sliding around during shipping. Overall the packaging is fairly typical but the design does provide great protection of the watch, which is extremely important.

The stainless steel case measures 47mm. Including the crown jumps up the total width to a robust 53mm.  The non-crown side of the case is fairly plain as there is no branding of any sort. This view does provide a good view of the 3 piece case construction, as well as, the lug-less design of the model.  The strap integration into the case acts as the lugs of the model.  The lug-to-lug measurement, using the rubber strap, is approximately 51mm.

The crown side of the case is what I would consider one of the nicer design features of this model.  On many watches, crown guards are actually part of the case machining. In this particular example, a separate piece of stainless steel seems to be somehow integrated into the case design acting as the crown guards. Another nice feature, not seen in many fashion watches, is a screw down crown. The crown measures a significant 8mm in width and is signed with the Jorg Gray logo.  The crown action is extremely smooth in both directions.  Overall, I’m am extremely impressed with the crown area design, as well as, the crown being screw down rather than a push pull type that I was anticipating.
