Some of you may remember the Elliot Brown Bloxworth review Michael Wolf did awhile back, here on WatchReport. If not, you can read Michaels review HERE , and also get some info on Elliot Brown and how this newer brand started their journey.

Michael’s review got me interested in the brand, and so I reached out to Elliot Brown to have their other model, the Canford, sent to me for review so I can see, first hand, how these watches stack up. In the video above, I give you my first impressions of the Canford, and since then I have been wearing it for just about a week. I am impressed with may features, however, there are a few areas where I think improvements, or should I say upgrades, can be made.

One of the first things I want to mention, is that Elliot Brown watches are designed in the UK, but machined and assembled in China. Now, this is far from a knock on the brand. I can name 10 brands off the top of my head that are produced in China, and they are all well made watches. Whether you want to agree with me or not, watches produced in China have come a long way in the past 10 years, and they are making a great product.

The reason I mention this, is the price of the Canford, which comes to about $750 USD. The Canford uses a Swiss ISA 331-103 quartz movement, with a custom printed calendar. It has roughly a 5 year battery life and also an EOL indication. I am told this movement also allows for 4 dial feet to be used, allowing for greater shock resistance. So , that does sound like a reliable and quality quartz movement. So why am I slightly balking at the price? Well, a quartz movement and a domed mineral crystal do not always equate to a $750 watch in my mind. I am the first to admit, I am not sure how much a wholesale Swiss quartz movement costs in comparison to a Japanese automatic movement, and I also do not know the amount of watches Elliot Brown is producing. (Lower production usually means higher prices). With that info and my thoughts on it out of the way, let’s get into the review, and what I think of the Canford.

I've been an avid watch lover since the age of 7. Watches are not only my hobby but a passion. My favorite style used to be dive watches, but field or non bezel watches have been growing on me. When I'm not reviewing watches I am either cooking or with family and friends.
