Corum Admiral’s Cup Legend 38 Chronograph
The Admiral’s Cup from Corum has been, undoubtedly, its most prolific seller. This year at the Basel Watch Fair held annually in Switzerland, the brand has released its newest addition to the Admiral’s Cup family. This Admiral’s Cup model is called the Legend 38 Chronograph. As the name suggests the case carries a diameter of 38mm. The case is relatively thick for a lady’s watch with a height of 10.85mm. This collection is offered in stainless steel, 18Kt rose gold, or 18Kt white gold.
The dodecagonal case is polished to a gleaming finish and it features a single row of full cut, individually set, round brilliant diamonds along the bezel. These diamonds are of VVS clarity and Top Wesselton color. The diamonds on the bezel (72 in number) are a total weight of 0.59 Carat. The main crown is textured allowing for the adjustment of the time and date even while wearing gloves. The chronograph pushers are of the lever variety, which gives a much larger surface area for the fast and accurate operation of this complication.
The dials in this collection come in either a white, or grey Mother of Pearl, and feature 11 bezel set diamond hour markers with an approximate carat weight of 22 points. The diamonds on the dial share the same values of quality as those on the bezel. The chronograph subdials are located at the 6 and 9 positions indicating minutes and hours respectively. The subdial at 3 is responsible for displaying the true seconds. All three subdials are decorated with a snailing motif towards the center. The chronograph seconds is indicated by a central hand which uses the logo of Corum as a counter weight. Every single one of the indicators is toned in either red gold or silver tone contrasting against the dial and complementing the watch as a whole. As with all Admiral’s Cup watches, there are 12 unique symbols each corresponding to a different boating command. Lume is coated on the minutes and hours hands ensuring nighttime readability. A large date display window is located at the 4:30 position.
Powering this watch is a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement Calibre CO 132, which beats at the high frequency of 4Hz or 28,800 VpH. The power reserve on this model is 42 hours when fully wound. The Corum Admiral’s Cup Legend 38 Chronograph is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet). These models are fitted with either a white or grey satin strap equipped with a Corum deployant buckle.
