Cartier Introduces the Ballon Bleu Vibrating Diamond Setting Watch

Thereโ€™s no doubt that the house of Cartier knows their diamonds. There seems to be no end to the ways that the legendary maker of gem-studded watches and jewelry find to get more of the pricey sparklers onto their creations. The latest example is the Ballon Bleu de Cartier Vibrating Diamond Setting Watch.

The secret of making the most of diamonds is to have them cut and set for the ultimate sparkle. For the diamonds to reflect the most light, they must move which is why Cartier created (and patented) what the brand calls The Vibrating Setting. This setting is achieved by strategically placing round-cut stones against a high-contrast black background in a way that the wearer can see the gems moving ever so slightly but enough to maximize the sparkle.

As if the vibrating diamonds on the dial arenโ€™t enough, the entire 18k white gold case and Ballon Bleu bracelet are set with more brilliant cut stones for a 42mm timepiece that practically glows in the dark.

Cartier will produce just 20 pieces of this very limited edition watch. The price tag for the Ballon Bleu Vibrating Setting Watch is an eye-catching $262,000.
