Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph 49150/000A-9745

Every brand has a bestselling watch, for Breitling, it is the Chronomat; for Cartier, it is the Ballom Bleu; however, for a brand with such a rich and diverse history such as Vacheron Constantin, their bestselling watch has no choice but to be something truly spectacular. The Overseas from this fabled watchmaker is their only model in stainless steel. Its unique bezel makes it instantly recognizable to those who are familiar with Haute Horlogerie.

As stated before this model comes in satin finished stainless steel which is sculpted from a single block, thus, eliminating messy soldering and welding, which can undermine the integrity of the case. The case comes in a gentโ€™s size of 42mm in diameter, and it is relatively flat for an automatic chronograph with its case height of 12.45mm. The main crown is ridged enabling the quick adjustments of the date and time, and the effortless winding of this watch. The chronograph pushers and main crown are screwed down aiding in the water resistance which is a reliable 150 meters (15 Bars). The fixed bezel is shaped with angular projections at eight points which have become almost as iconic as the brand itself. The bezel is polished which stands out against the brushed case.

Vacheron 2The movement powering this watch is the Calibre 1137. The 1137 Calibre is automatic and features a power reserve of approximately 40 hours once fully wound. The oscillating weight is made from 18kt gold, which aids in the frequency of rotations due to centrifugal force. The balance wheel alternates at 21,600 VpH or 3Hz. Though this is slower than many other chronographs on todayโ€™s market, it in no way affects the precision of the chronograph.

The dial on the model featured is blue with applied rhodium colored indexes and hands. All of the elements on the dial carry lume for readability at night. At the 12 position there is a large double digit date window. The chronograph uses a central seconds hand, while the minutes and hours are indicated by totalizers at 3 and 9 respectively. There is a true seconds subdial at the 6 position. On the flange lies a conservative minute track with white markings and Arabic numerals in intervals of fives.

This Overseas chronograph features anti-magnetic resistance of up to 25,000 A/m. The strap used is a blue alligator leather outfitted with a folding clasp shaped in a Maltese cross โ€“ the brandโ€™s logo. Vacheron Constantin backs the Overseas Chronograph with a limited 2 year guarantee.ย Vacheron 3
