TW Steel Mitchell Niemeyer Special Edition

Hands on Watch Reviews TW Steel

One of TW Steel’s newest releases is the 45mm Canteen Mitchell Niemeyer Special Edition.

Please take a look at my video below for an HD look and my initial impressions.

Since posting sneak peeks on social media and checking out other sites that have posted about it, I noticed some said they found the stars on the dial to be tacky. I guess that is just one of those subjective things as I found the stars on the dial to be one of the best features of the Mitchell Niemeyer Special Edition. If you have not watched the video yet, the stars on the dial are inspired by Mitchell’s tattoos. I am not very familiar with Mitchell, as he is a Dutch DJ, and being an American I have just not heard of him. What is more important to me is the watch itself and not where the design came from, but more so how it was executed.

The MN Special Edition, which is how I will refer to it from here on out, is a 45mm case and only comes in one finish, which is a dual finish, with a gunmetal or titanium coating and a black pvd coating. It is equipped with a mineral crystal and a Miyota 6S20 quartz chronograph.

The canteen crown models are the ones that I immediately think of when it comes to TW Steel. While they have many more models and have recently released a collection of slim line dress watches, these are the watches that I think of. At 45mm and with the canteen sticking out, it is a not a small watch by any means, but also not ridiculously oversized. As I said, the dial to me is the standout of this watch, and the star pattern and textured line dial is attractive to me, with just enough color and artwork to give it some flair without being gaudy or gimmicky.

I've been an avid watch lover since the age of 7. Watches are not only my hobby but a passion. My favorite style used to be dive watches, but field or non bezel watches have been growing on me. When I'm not reviewing watches I am either cooking or with family and friends.
