Blacklist Phantom P2.1 Watch Review

by Don Evans

โ€œIโ€™ve been blacklisted from Hop Sings!!!!โ€ Waitโ€ฆ What!!?? Well, that is what Elaineโ€™s boyfriend in Seinfeld said to her, when she got him in trouble with his favorite Chinese Restaurant.

So, why name a watch brand Blacklist? The owner, Justin, describes it as representative of never backing down, and a symbol to remind you that anything is possible and the underdog will always have his turn to rise.ย Now, that sure sounds empowering, and a nice marketing strategy if nothing else. When it comes to the meat and potatoes of the company, Justin took two years to research, design and build a watch to his specs and do it in Switzerland.

What Blacklist produced was two different models (same case and bracelet, but different dials), that are large, colorful, definitely fashion orientated, but made well with some nice attention to detail and quality materials.

Below is my video at the Blacklist Phantom P2.1, so please watch for a close up HD look.

Blacklist Phantom P2.1 Specifications:

  • Case Diameter: 48mm/ 52mm with crown
  • Case Thickness: 15mm

Large and in charge is what you might feel while wearing this watch, (unless your wife wears the pants in the relationship. In that case, donโ€™t tell her you bought another watch!)

Blacklist Phantom P2.1 Watch Review

Yes, the Blacklist is a large watch at 48mm, not as large as some Invicta or Hublot watches that I have seen, but it is still a monster. It has some nice subtle hints of color and a unique dial in that it is half semi-gloss black and half carbon fiber, and from what I can see has been done pretty seamlessly.

Don,

Really appreciate the review and the comments on the watch!

To add to the review..
Yes, the next model will be a 44mm automatic featuring a ETA 2824-2 movement. (Samples will be here in 2 weeks)
The crown is smaller and signed.
It will also have a different higher quality buckle and the sapphire crystal will have an AR coating applied.
The band is tapered 22×20 so it will have a slightly smaller feel.

You are correct, when designing this model, I did not want to put too much branding on the watch. In hindsight, it could have used a B on the crown.

Appreciate you taking the time to do this review. If anyone has any questions or would like to purchase this model, you can email me directly at justin@blacklistwatches.com I will happily give any watchreport members a discount.

Kind Regards,
Justin E.
