The Jolly Roger was surprisingly comfortable on the wrist, even with the 55mm length. I think the key here is the quality strap, which allows for a balanced fit on the wrist, because the lugs are not really curved. Depending on how you wear the watch on your wrist, the canteen crown will probably dig into your wrist though. I actually show the watch on my right wrist, just to give a look on how it would look if you are a lefty.
The lume is much better than I expected, though the domed applied โdotโ markers have the most glow, while the hands, rectangle and triangle markers lack. So, while it is not the most impressive lume I have ever seen, it still does its job and lasts for about a good 3 hours or so before fading drastically.
This is honestly one of those love it or hate it watches. Obviously, if you are not into skulls or watches with logos or graphics on the dial, this is probably not going to be for you. As you can see from my pictures, I had some fun while shooting this watch, using some of my skull rings and other skull items I own. Overkill? Maybe. But I never shy away from what I like, and nor should anyone else. I had some comments on it while wearing it, mostly โthatโs a large watchโ, and โwe see you are adding skulls to your watches nowโ. But, this is, in my opinion, a fun and casual watch that is made to a watch enthusiastโs standard with good fit and finish, thick sapphire crystal, quality leather strap, ornate case back, and a swiss quartz movement.
Thank you to Ballast for providing the Jolly Roger for review.
