The FLYBOY collection comes in both Automatic and Quartz movements. Today we will look at the AV-4021-01 FLYBOY, automatic, a casual timepiece that honors the heroic and undeniably charismatic pilots of WWI.
The AVI-8 FLYBOY comes in a genuine leather, chocolate brown, box that is accented by light tan stitching. I was immediately drawn to the box of the FLYBOY due to the simplicity of the packaging, yet the quality you are not used to seeing from most manufactures. If one were to leave the box on the nightstand or dresser, the simple yet elegant design will not be one to leave an eye soar in the bedroom. Inside of the packaging, the FLYBOY sits nicely on a chocolate brown pillow with both instruction manual and warranty cards beneath. While keeping their presentation simple and clean, I believe that AVI-8 did a great job at providing their customers with an elegant presentation of their timepieces.
The case of the FLYBOY AV-4021-01 is constructed of solid stainless steel and is accented with a coin edge crown. Constructed with clean lines and a see through case back allowing the view of the movement, the FLYBOY has a really nice appeal. The case of the FLYBOY is water resistant up to 5ATM, 50 meters or 165ft; depending on the metric system you are used to using. Measuring in at 42mm, with a LTL (lug-to-lug) measurement of 48mm, the feel and comfort of the watch is quite pleasant. Height of the case totals 12mm without the straps, and 14mm with the straps in place due to the double layer of the strap on the backside of the timepiece. The FLYBOY is equipped with a mineral glass for protection. While not sapphire crystal, the mineral crystal is quite durable and should provide you with the protection needed to keep your FLYBOY looking good.
