Rec Watches Cooper C5

Hands on Watch Reviews Independent REC

The Cooper models come with two straps; one leather and one nylon. The Cooper C5 comes with a green nylon strap with stainless hardware. I’m not a huge fan of nylon straps but can see how well the green nylon will provide great color contrast against the dial of this particular model. I really like the 22/20mm leather strap that is provided. The leather strap measures 4mm at its thickest point tapering to just under 3mm closer to the buckle. The strap stitching is a golden color, which corresponds perfectly to the golden/yellow numerals on the watch dial. The leather strap is quite comfortable on the wrist but I would much rather have a non-tapering strap. One of the great-added features of the C5 is that REC Watches supplies quick release spring bars on the leather strap. Even though the case is stainless steel with no plating, the quick release spring bars on the leather strap will most certainly limit case marring under and around the lugs.

Overall, the Cooper C5 from REC Watches is well made timepiece that has both a modern and stylish appearance while offering unique flavor and history with a raw dial. As I have mentioned before, REC Watches has a niche in the watch making and design industry through a process of recovering, recycling and reclaiming no longer used Mini Coopers for their watch dials. I would like to thank the REC Watches for providing this sample for review and look forward to seeing new designs incorporating their unique dials. If you have a moment, check out the brief video on the C5 and follow us on YouTube as well. Thanks for reading and I look forward to your comments as always.
