Only Watch 2015 Collection Hits the Road
For months now weโve been hearing about the unique designs being created by luxury watchmakers for the Only Watch 2015 collection. These one-of-a-kind timepieces will be auctioned off for charity in November but before they go to their new homes, the watches will be going on tour.
Fanciers of fine examples of the horological craft can get their first look at the Only Watch 2015 collection Wednesday at the opening of the Monaco Yacht Show. The collection will be on display in the Parvis Piscine tent through September 26. This will be just the first stop for the 44 watches on a tour that will also take them to Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, London and finally to Geneva, where they will go on the auction block November 7.
This is the sixth edition of the biennial auction, which was organized by the Monaco Association Against Muscular Dystrophy and the Monaco Yacht Show under the watchful eye of HSH Prince Albert II. Wielding the hammer at this yearโs auction will be Aurel Bacs of Bacs & Russo in conjunction with Phillipsโ watch department.
Proceeds from the Only Watch 2015 auction go to benefit research on the deadly genetic disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy that can cause progressive degeneration of the muscles. The first five editions of this event have raised 15 million Euros and this yearโs auction is expected to be the biggest yet.
Watchmakers contributing pieces to the Only Watch 2015 collection include Hermes, Hublot, Chopard, Vulcain, Speake-Marin, Laurent Ferrier, Maurice LaCroix, Richard Mille, F. P. Journe, Breguet, Tudor, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, Jacob & Co., Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Harry Winston, Piaget, Van Cleef & Arpels, Ulysse Nardin and Bell & Ross.
Theyโre all gorgeous, theyโre all unique and itโs all for a worthy cause.
