The lume is decent overall but does have some shortcomings. Initially, the lume is quite intense as the hour markers glow strongly when charged. However, the yellow T-25 tubes are quite weak in the background when the hour markers are fully charged. The hands are not lumed like the hour markers, only tubes, so when the hour markers are fully charged telling the time is extremely difficult until the markers fade leaving only the tubes around the dial and on the hands glowing. I do not believe weakness of the T-25 tubes is the main issue but rather the tubes are the same color lume as the markers thus the tubes just fade away into the background. I was unable to obtain a lume shot of just the tubes but I can attest that when the hour markers are not charged the tubes glow adequately enough to tell the time in darkened conditions. I strongly believe that if a different color tube was used at least on the hands that they may show up much better when the markers are charged, but of course that is pure speculation. Also, a lume pip on the bezel is important for any dive watch, which obviously the Matera lacks.
The Matera is a very sharp looking T-25 dive style watch offered by Detomaso. Due to the lack of lume on the bezel and some issues with lume on the hands I would consider this model more of a fashion dive watch. The model does still have many desirable features such as a sapphire crystal, screw down crown, and Miyota automatic movement. The addition of T-25 tubes in this model is a great feature as well but needs further improvements so that the painted lume on the dial doesn’t overwhelm the lume from the tubes. All in all, the specifications noted, combined with a sharp sporty appearance, at a price under $380 present a strong value and will not break your bank when shopping for a dive style watch. Definitely check out what Detomaso has to offer HERE. Other dial/marker options are also available for the Matera model if yellow and black is not the look you are seeking. I would like to thank Detomaso for providing the Matera for review. Thanks to each of you for reading. Why not mention that watch is manufactured in China. It obviously leads me to believe that you are paid to sell watches not really review them. I just spent my hard earned wages purchasing a Detomaso Matera Automatic and am not thrilled about finding out it came from China. All advertising leaves one to believe it comes from Germany so I feel I was a victim of “Bait and Switch”. JP/Coos Bay.
