Chronoswiss Regulateur 30 Limited Edition
Since 1970, Chronoswiss has been seen collaborating on the movie ‘Le Mans’ Starring Steve McQueen and at various formula one racing meets as the official timekeeper. By 1987, the brand launched the first serially made Regulator watch which was powered by a Swiss made hand wound movement. This move placed Chronoswiss on the map and the road to success.
Regulator watches have always played an important role in Swiss Watchmaking, as it these clocks in the factory that all watches leaving them are set to. The dial layout of the Regulator watch is what sets these watches apart from all others. Each of the timekeeping elements i.e. the hours, minutes, and seconds are contained in their own subdials on the watch.
The Regulateur 30 Limited Edition up the ante on this design with the inclusion of a jumping date window at the 12 o’clock position. This is totally unique for regulator watches. The mere inclusion of a rare complication like jumping hours is something that is quite noteworthy.
The case comes in two versions – 18kt red gold, and stainless steel. These pieces are limited in production to 130 pieces for the red gold, and 300 pieces for the stainless steel edition. The case carries dimensions of 40mm for the diameterand is quite flat with a case height only measuring 8.4mm. Prominent on this watch is large onion shaped main crown. The bezel is fluted giving this watch a vintage appeal.
The case is crafted from solid 925 sterling silver and features an intricate guilloche design on both the subdials and the main dial. The Feuille shaped hands are blued steel and are finished by hand. The blued steel does an excellent job of standing out against the dial making for optimum readability. The jumping hours window is vaulted on this piece as well.
Powering this watch is a Caliber C.283 which is automatic. Brown or Black leather is used for the strap on the 18kt red gold, and the stainless steel versions respectively. These models are made to withstand 30 meters (3 ATM) of water pressure. As with most Swiss made watches, these pieces are fitted with a sapphire crystal dial window used because of its superior scratch resistant properties. Chronoswiss backs the Regulateur 30 limited Edition with a 2 year international warranty.
