Chopard has just released a new limited edition timepiece that is making waves with its clean, vintage looks. The Chopard L.U.C 1963 was designed to honor the Scheufele family, who has stood tirelessly at the helm of Chopard for the last 50 years. This gorgeous watch, reference # 161963-5001, is made in a very exclusive limited edition of just 50 pieces worldwide.
The case is crafted from the ever trendy 18kt rose gold. Many watches these days are made using this particular alloy for two main reasons. The first reason is that rose gold offers the most structurally stable alloy; the second reason is that the specific hue of rose gold flatters the skin tone more than the other conventional types of gold. Chopard manufactures this model with a case diameter of 44mm. and a case height of 11mm. The single tiered bezel is fixed and holds securely the scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The main crown is ridged for the effortless modifications of the time, and for the day to day winding of the watch.
Through the sapphire crystal case back, the wearer can view the highly decorated hand wound movement Calibre L.U.C 63-01-L. The movement is officially certified by the COSC as a chronometer. Chronometers are noted because each watch bearing this certification has gone through a battery of tests for accuracy. The criteria for gaining a COSC certification are strict and each of the 50 watches produced carries this exclusive title. This limited edition watch also carries another prestigious accolade – the Poincon de Genève Quality Hallmark. This model offers a superb 60 hours of power reserve.
The dial is white with neat black Roman numerals serving as the hour markers. As with many Chopard dress watches, this series carries the railroad minute track. At the 9 o’clock position there is a pronounced small seconds register.
This watch is fitted with a brown alligator leather strap, which carries a traditional pin clasp system. The Chopard L.U.C 1963 Limited Edition is water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM).
