As one of the oldest watch houses in Switzerland, Longines had a great opportunity to build a little niche for its products which represent some of the most aesthetically pleasing and affordable on the Swiss watch market. Longines also has one other interesting bit of trivia attached to its long history: the brand carries the distinction of having the first registered trademark – their winged hourglass.
The Primaluna from Longines is carved from a single, solid block of stainless steel, which has been accented with 18kt rose gold along the bezel and bracelet. The bezel is adorned with 48 VVS, Top Wesselton diamonds that have all been individually set, guaranteeing brilliance. The diamonds carry a total carat weight of 40 points, maintaining this timepiece in the realm of the affordable.
The case of the Primaluna carries dimensions of a midsize 30mm for the case diameter. The textured main crown is also rendered in 18kt rose gold. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal which has been treated to several coatings of antiglare on the underside of the crystal. Sapphire is chosen by Longines due to its scratch resistant properties. Speaking of resistance, this chic wristwatch is made to withstand 30 meters of water pressure. This makes the Longines Primaluna L6.113.5.79.6 suited for low impact wear.
The L595 self-winding movement can be viewed through the exhibition sapphire crystal case back. Though not an anomaly in watchmaking, automatic watches for women are something of a rarity. Longines once again defies the norm and stays true to its watchmaking spirit. The movement features a power reserve of 40 hours and beats at 28,800 VpH.
The dial is white and carries a rays of the sun motif guilloche design. The blued steel hands do an amazing job of standing out against the dial enhancing legibility. The designers at Longines use black Roman numerals making sure this watch is the embodiment of a dressy timepiece. Completing the dial is a date display window at the 3 o’clock position.
