Donatella Versace has dubbed the Versus line โthe rock and roll soulโ of the Versace brand, and the new collections of watches for men live up to that description. Gianni Versace originally created the Versus line but itโs his sister Donatella who has been responsible for its continued success and trend-setting style. Versus Versace adds a youthful, rebellious edge to the legendary Versace brand, attracting the more fashion-forward buyer.
The latest Versus collection made its debut at the WWD Magic show in Las Vegas, where the fashion industry gathers to show off the latest and hottest looks twice each year. The new Versace Versus collections for men burnish the lineโs reputation by defying recent trends rather than following them. Itโs easy to see why so many attendees were drawn to the Versace Versus booth for their first look at the new designs.
The Versace Versus Globe
First up is the Versus Globe line of watches for men. While menโs watches have been downsizing in diameter, Globe styles buck the trend by going for a big, bold look. With a dial measuring 50 mm, the Globe is definitely the go-to watch for the man who wants to make a fashion statementโa big one. This is a watch that will not go unnoticed and begs for comments.
The new batch of Globe watches sport an unusual dial layout that recalls vintage timepieces. On the face are three subdials located at 6, 9 and 12 oโclock that show day, date and a 24-hour counter. These give the dial the look of a chronograph, a theme carried out by the large Arabic numerals in contrasting colors encircling the dial. Color choices include blue, black and silver dials with cases available in stainless steel, IP black, IP yellow gold and IP rose gold, all with an overstitched band of PV black. The Globe line has a classic elegance that makes these watches wearable with practically everything.
The Versace Versus Aventura
The Versus Aventura line is built for speed, with sporty looks and cool features. These rugged-looking watches give the wearer a feeling that adventure awaits, even if heโs heading for the office rather than an exotic location.
The watches in the latest Aventura collection have a classic chronograph look with subdials at 3, 6 and 9 oโclock on the face. At the top is a large Arabic numeral 12 with baton markers ending in lumed tips. Decorating the bezel is the trademark Versus pyramid with six Allen bolts. Dial options are white, black and silver, with cases in black or stainless. Both have leather or bracelet straps.
Versus by Versace watches retail for around $250 to $400, making them a less pricey but still upscale alternative to the regular Versace line that starts at around $1,300 and goes upโway up. These new models from Versus Versace are just the things for the youthful customer who has Versace taste but doesnโt have a designer-sized pocketbook, at least not yet.
