Luxury Swiss watches for the ladies tend to be classy and tasteful rather than killer sexy, but the three new timepieces from Roger Dupuis are totally seductive! For the woman who wants her watch to be as alluring as her stilettos, perfume and lingerie, the Roger Dubuis Velvet Haute Couture collection has just what sheโs looking for. The very namesโVelvet Fur, Velvet Corset and Velvet Fishnetโevoke elegance and sensuality. What fashionista could resist?
Roger Dubuis launched the glamorous new Velvet Haute Couture limited edition watch collection at the recent Watches&Wonders 2014 expo and each model is a fabulously decadent original. Each of the 36mm watches houses a mechanical in-house-made self-winding RD821 movement with 172 parts, but each sports a very different style of band. All three feature Swiss craftsmanship along with the highest quality materials and unique design.
The Corsetry model is distinguished by a strap that recalls the sensuality of a vintage lace-up corset along with the femininity of pale pink leather ballet slippers. The smooth calfskin band is highlighted by intricate black lacing for contrast. The dial is paved with 162 brilliant-cut diamonds surrounded by a silver-toned satin sunburst emblazoned with the signature Velvet Roman numerals in black or pink gold to coordinate with the colors of the case and strap. More diamonds adorn the bezel and lugs of the watch. Included is an extra genuine alligator strap in blushing pink.
The Velvet Haute Couture Mink Fur model features a shimmering blue-black band of luxurious sheared mink crafted by renowned furrier Daniel Benjamin Geneva. The deep dark strap perfectly sets off the white gold case set with 496 brilliant-cut diamonds placed on the dial, bezel, lugs and buckle. Double sapphire crystals accent the tonneau-shaped dial, one encasing the hands and the other bearing the trademark Roman numerals of Roger Dubuis. An extra strap is included for more casual occasions, this one of black alligator.
The third watch in the collection is officially named the Declercq Passementerieq after a French maker of decorative fabrics and trimmings, but the timepiece is more likely to be referred to as the Fishnet. Sixth-generation craftsman Jerome Declercq handcrafted the eye-catching strap to this watch that resembles a pair of fishnet stockings. Warm gray silk in a fishnet pattern contrasts with the beige-toned strap and picks up the shade of the ruthenium-treated dial. The Fishnet model is adorned by 1.66 carats of brilliant-cut diamonds on the pink gold case, lugs and clasp. An extra strap of shiny taupe alligator is included.
Just 88 pieces of each style will be made, and if you were thinking that these would make dandy holiday gifts, check out the prices. The Velvet Haute Couture Passementerie will sell for $46,000, the Corsetry model for $53,000 and the Mink Fur for $100,500. All three will be available at the Roger Dubuis Hong Kong Boutiques and other sellers of fine watches. If you canโt afford the Mink Fur watch, maybe you can spring for a real mink coat.
