Employees Get 50% Discount on Apple Watch
In a rare burst of generosity, Apple is giving all workers the opportunity to purchase the new Apple Watch for half price. Of course, there are a few strings attached to the offer.
The watch must be bought for personal use, which probably means that it better not turn up on eBay. This discount is good only on the Apple Watch or Apple Watch Sport, so forget about mortgaging the house to buy the $17,000 Apple Watch Edition for $8,500 and selling it to a private buyer for close to the retail price. The discount begins on April 10, the day that preorders begin, and is valid for only 90 days.
In a memo, Apple CEO Tim Cook explained this limited time offer: โOur products enrich peopleโs lives like no others, and we think Apple Watch is going to delight our customers in ways people canโt yet imagine. We want you to share in that experience right alongside them.โ

Apple Encourages Customers to Order the Apple Watch Online
Since Apple plans to rush the cheapskates who wish to buy the less expensive models of the Apple Watch in and out of their retail stores as quickly as possible in order to devote more of their employeesโ time to selling the pricier versions, itโs no surprise that the company would also prefer to move the merchandise online. A leaked memo from Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts instructs workers to encourage potential customers to make their purchases at the Apple online store.
โThe days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers. The Apple Store app and our online store make it much easier to purchase Apple Watch and the new MacBook. Customers will know exactly when and where their product arrives,โ the memo states. โThis is a significant change in mindset, and we need your help to make it happen. Tell your customers we have more availability online, and show them how easy it is to order.โ
