Bulova has had a big year in 2013. Earlier this year, the watch manufacturer was signed as the official watch brand of the UKโs leading soccer club โ Manchester United. This year also saw the brand honor one of the greatโs in modern architecture Frank Lloyd Wright with a collection of 4 watches each taking one of his design elements and featuring it in these exhibition watches.
Today, we are going to focus on one of these pieces โ the 98A103. The case of this watch is made from black PVD stainless steel. PVD or Phosphor Vapor Deposition is a process where the plating occurs at the molecular level, negating the chances of the plated material chipping or wearing away with time. PVD also functions to strengthen the metal reducing the risk of scratching. The case carries a 35mm case diameter which is more of unisex size, and a case thickness of 7.3mm. The unique lugs are outfitted with a standard black leather strap equipped with a classic pin buckle also crafted from black PVD stainless steel. The main crown is smooth and rounded.
Powering this watch is an accurate quartz movement. Each of the timepieces in this collection is created under license from The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Protecting the dial is a flat mineral crystal which has some scratch resistant properties. This classy timepiece is made to withstand up to 30 meters or 99 feet worth of water pressure, which makes this watch a good choice for everyday wear.
The dial is white and carries over sized Arabic numeral for the hour markers in 6 different colors. The colors are black, yellow, blue, green, orange, and red. Each color is represented twice on the dial. The hands are in black toned steel and they feature the markings of a ruler in centimeters and in inches paying homage to architecture to which Frank Lloyd Wright is famous. This watch retails for USD $100.
