Cartier Tank Solo Automatic Extra Large Model

This year Cartier has released a brand new model to their already successful Tank Solo collection. This model is rectangular as all Tank models are, and is bigger with a case size of 31mm X 40.85mm. The height of the case is slightly thicker at 7.65mm to accommodate the self-winding mechanical movement caliber 049 from Cartier.

This model comes in stainless steel just like its predecessors and is highly polished with smooth lines and cool curves. The case also features a ridged main crown with a synthetic cabochon cut spinel in blue. These watches are offered with two bracelet versions – stainless steel, and black round scale alligator leather. The stainless steel edition is secured using a double deployant clasp, while the black leather version is fitted with a single folding deployant clasp. The case back is solid which seals the movement from the elements. The bezel holds a sapphire crystal which is chosen by the designers of the brand due to its exceptional scratch resistant properties.

The dial is opaline and holds many of the aesthetic qualities that Cartier has made famous over the years. The hour markers are hand applied Roman numerals. The numeral at the 7 position holds the secret “Cartier” inscription that is one of the brand’s main tools against counterfeiting. On the internal dial is found the “railroad” minute track that the Tank models encompass. The dial also uses blued steel, sword shaped hands which offer excellent contrast against the dial for easy reading. At the 6 position is a date aperture for quick referencing. This ultra-clean dial has been one of Cartier’s most winning features in this collection.
