What is a Helium Release Valve?

– A Helium Release Valve is a system that allows built up gases in a watch (namely Helium) to escape before causing any structural damage to the movement or the crystal. It is a known phenomenon that Helium builds up inside of a watch when it is underwater for prolonged periods of time. Many Professional Diving watches incorporate this mechanism as a safety feature.
