Watches to Watch for at the US Open
World-class athletes are very much in demand as brand ambassadors for luxury watches and none more so than elite tennis players. When the US Open kicks off next week aficionados of fine timepieces can root for their favorite players while admiring the luxury watches on their wrists.
Going for her 22nd major title is โQueen of the Courtโ and Audemars Piguet spokesperson Serena Williams. The Audemars Piguet website boasts that Williams โperfectly embodies the brandโs dedication to excellence.โ This champโs watch of choice is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore in stainless steel with a diamond set bezel.
Always gunning for Williams is Maria Sharapova, a brand ambassador for TAG Heuer. Sharapova was spotted at the Australian open wearing the TAG Heuer limited edition Aquaracer Lady 300M in โDaring Red.โ
2014 US Open winner Roger Federer will be back this year to defend his title and can be expected to do it while wearing one of his enviable collection of Rolex watches. Federerโs favorites include the GMT-Master II and the Sky-Dweller.
One of the other guys to watch for at this yearโs tournament is Novak Djokovic who is going for his second US Open title. The Serbian player has teamed up with Seiko to design a line of watches that will benefit his charitable foundation so itโs no surprise that Djokovic has been seen sporting a limited edition Seiko Astron GPS Solar Chronograph.
Rafael Nadel hasnโt had a great year but heโs too good to count out. Nadel has a working relationship with the luxe Richard Mille brand, which has designed several pieces just for him. One favorite is the RM 27-02 Tourbillon Rafael Nadel, of course.
The 2015 US Open will take place August 31 โ September 13 at the Arthur Ashe stadium in Flushing Meadows, New York.
