Watches are Back!

Watches are Back!

Of course for real aficionados of fine timepieces, they never left but as more people have become dependent on their smartphones for practically everything, fewer of us are wearing a watch on a daily basis. That could be changing since watches are making a comeback for spring and glossy high fashion magazines are full of ads for luxury models by Swiss watchmakers. Style site Bustle took a look at some of the reasons why watches are hot again. Even if you disagree with these points, isnโ€™t it nice to see fine watches claim the spotlight again?

The Apple Watch
Love it or hate it, Appleโ€™s heavily hyped smartwatch has drawn attention to the watch field. With a million preorders and the early birds due to receive their watches later this week, weโ€™re sure to see plenty of wrists bearing Apple Watches this spring and summer.

The Apple Watch is likely to succeed where Android smartwatches have failed to catch on with the general public largely due to the amount of publicity and advertising. Every fashionista and smart dressed man has been bombarded with pages of advertising in magazines like style bible Vogue. Itโ€™s impossible to ignore the Apple Watch, even if youโ€™re a watch snob who loves to point out that you could buy a โ€œrealโ€ watch for the price of the 18K gold Edition model.

Traditional watches are getting smarter
Wary of losing high-end customers to the pricier Apple Watch versions, Swiss brands like TAG Heuer have announced plans to get into the smartwatch game with models of their own. The TAG Heuer announcement was the talk of Baselworld 2015 and no doubt has competitors scrambling to design a wearable device of their own or at least add โ€œsmartโ€ features to traditional timepieces.

Tiffanyโ€™s has risen from the dead
Maybe not really dead but definitely dormant for the last few years, Tiffanyโ€™s is back in a big way with the CT60 collection. In this watch conscious spring, their timing is impeccable.
