While I get to review many watches here on WatchReport, there’s no doubt that some watches strike me more than others. The Sablier Grand Cru is one of them. The funny thing is, it is not particularly my style, but yet I truly am enamored with it. Why you may ask? No, it does not have the prestige of say a Rolex, JLC or many other brands, nor have an inhouse movement, or even a movement that is extraordinary.
What it does have though is a design with style and comfort in mind, a case that is made from a solid block of stainless steel, a unique and refreshing design, and everything custom machined and produced.
The Sablier Grand Cru has a concave dial, concave crystal and even concave or “bent” hands. This was done with many things in mind, one of them being the easier to read dial from almost any angle. There’s even a patent on the dial and crystal, as Sablier was to my knowledge the first to produce a watch with this, or at least the first to patent it. There are technical drawings, renderings, sketches and much more that I could talk about, but the bottom line is, it is a very unique watch with some fantastic features. The most important part is the end result…..how does the watch stack up and does it have a place in the mid-range to luxury watch world? I think so.

The owner of Sablier Watches, decided to design a watch, for the same reasons many do. He had a love for watches, and while he loved many, never found that perfect one for him. With that came the Sablier Grand Cru, after a good many years of research, design and blood, sweat and tears I am sure. He wanted a watch that was versatile, beautiful, timeless, unique, reliable and accurate, comfortable, legible, and represent his personal taste.

Hi Kent. just and FYI about your comment…there is no blue or black dial. The one I reviewed is black. The hints of bluish/purple you see in some photos is the antireflective coating (AR)
