Third Party Apple Watch Accessories, Apps Now Available
While those who have ordered the first batch of Apple Watches wait for them to be delivered, they can peruse the accessories already available from third party retailers. By the time the watch actually arrives there will be an ever-growing selection of apps and games from which to choose.
For $50, you can get a custom-designed band for your Apple Watch from Casetify. Use the site’s online tool and a little imagination to create a one-of-a-kind strap. Order it today and you will probably have the band before you get the watch.
If you like to change your bands to fit your mood or outfit, do it easily with the Click adaptor. This handy gadget comes in silver or Space Gray anodized aluminum and allows you to use any 22mm band with the Apple Watch. The Kickstarter-funded company will begin shipping the accessory in late May or early June.
One of the major disadvantages of the Apple Watch is the abysmal battery life that requires nightly recharging. The wiPowerBand strap promises to double your battery life with an integrated 250 mAh high-density lithium polymer rechargeable battery for $89/$99. It comes in cool colors like bright orange, hot pink and bright blue, too.
If you’re hard on your watchbands but don’t want to pay Apple prices for a replacement, My Cell is offering knockoff bands for $25 to $224. They may not match the quality of the more expensive ones from Apple but you get what you pay for.
Since this is an Apple product, of course there will be apps. Lots of them. One of the most popular is sure to be Instagram, already to go-to app for celebs like Katy Perry and Drake to flaunt their new Apple Watches. This will be the photo-sharing service’s first foray into translating its app for a wearable device.
Coming this week is the first adventure game designed exclusively for the Apple Watch, “Watch Quest: Heroes of Time.” Players may choose the Active or Passive role and play may go on for several hours. Or until your battery runs out. There is a free version or Quest Packs that can be purchased on the iPhone.
