In the world of watchmaking, most of the innovations are geared towards men, but Rado has just released an amazing new collection and they have made it exclusively for women. Introducing the Esenza by Rado โ€“ the worldโ€™s first touch controlled ceramic watch.

The Esenza has a unique oval case shape and, as stated before, is made completely in ceramic. This Esenza collection comes in both white and black ceramic. The case is made with a monobloc construction, which makes it light and as much as 5 times harder than stainless steel. Ceramic is also hypoallergenic, making this watch ideal for those with sensitive skin types. There is no main crown with which to set the watch, making for perfect symmetry. There are instead four sensors within the case, which allow the watch to be set.

Ceramic is a known insulator, which makes this watch a circuit. The electrodes sense the touch of the wearer and respond by allowing the watch to be set. It is important to note that Rado recommends that this watch should be worn while setting the time. The four sensors, two each for the hours and minutes, are very sensitive so undue pressure should not be applied.

This watch comes in a case size of 33mm X 42mm and with a case height of just 8.4mm.This large size for women gives the watch an excellent wrist presence that is guaranteed to be the envy of many. This timepiece has a stainless steel case back, which maintains a water resistance of 30 meters or 3 bars. The Esenza comes with your choice of either a leather strap or a three piece ceramic bracelet. Both are fitted with a clasp made solely from titanium another incredible material. Protecting the highly legible dial is a sapphire crystal. The Rado Esenza Ceramic Touch carries a Swiss made quartz movement that will power the watch for 4 years, which is significantly longer than conventional quartz movements.

I haven’t heard of a watch like this before, really impressed with the touch features rather than having a crown. I’m a big fan of ceramic watches, one for the girlfriend i think.

Great Post
