TAG Heuer Smartwatch Coming This Fall
Those who are still vacillating over whether to order an Apple Watch just might want to wait a few more months. One of the biggest names in Swiss watches will be launching a smartwatch this fall and the price is definitely competitive.
Bloomberg reports that TAG Heuer will be introducing a smartwatch in October or November, a device that will have an impressive 40 hours of battery life and come with a $1,400 price tag.
The timing couldn’t be better since the Apple Watch will have been out for several months, enough time for the initial hoopla to die down. LVMH chief Jean-Claude Biver hinted at how Apple’s wearable device could arouse the appetites of potential customers for a fine Swiss smartwatch.
In an interview for the opening of a Hublot boutique in Dubai, Biver said, “I hope they sell millions and millions and millions of them. The more they sell the more a few people will want something different and come to TAG Heuer.”
Last month at Baselworld Biver announced that TAG Heuer would be partnering with Intel and Google to produce a smartwatch by the end of 2015, so this is no major surprise but there has been no hint as to what we can expect from the first wearable device from a major maker of traditional timepieces.
The estimated price of $1,400 positions the TAG Heuer smartwatch in between the mid-range $1,099 Apple Watch and the high-end $10,000 to $17,000 Apple Watch Edition. That’s certainly not a huge sum for the TAG Heuer customer who could be tempted to add a cool new device to his or her collection. TAG Heuer certainly has the designing expertise to create the classiest smartwatch on the market so the new device should attract both fanciers of fine watches and tech geeks with good taste who don’t care to strap something plastic on their wrists.
