Swiss Watch Brands to Utilize MMT MotionX Technology for Smartwatches
The smartwatch market in 2015 is like a new frontier where ideas are constantly being introduced and no one can predict which will succeed. Now three prominent Swiss watchmakers are partnering with a technology platform to create a totally different type of wearable device that will offer over two years of battery life plus compatibility with both Apple and Android operating systems.
MMT (Manufacture Modules Technologies) has developed the MMT MotionX Horological Smartwatch Open Platform that is designed to give the Swiss watch look and craftsmanship to wearable devices. Unlike the models now on the market, the Swiss Horological Smartwatches will have no digital screen but rather display โsmartโ information via mechanical hands on an analog watch dial. This allows the watch to meld the beauty of a classic Swiss watch with the functionality of a smartwatch.
The horological smartwatches will be powered by MMTโs MotionX technology platform and feature MotionX activity tracking, Sleeptracker sleep monitoring and MotionX cloud backup and restore. The watches will offer sleep cycle alarms, adaptive coaching and get active alerts. They will always have the exact date and time plus thereโs that impressively long battery life.
Three Swiss brands will offer designer collections with a total of ten models for men and women all running MotionX. The first partners are sports watchmaker Alpina, Mondaine, best known for SBB Swiss railway watches and Geneva-based luxury name Frederique Constant. The first of the smartwatches will go on sale in June.
