LG Urbane Smartwatch Gets Mixed Reviews
Although one would never know it from all the recent hoopla about the Apple Watch there are segments of the buying public that prefer the competing Android Wear gadgets. Those customers may be considering the purchase of an LG Urbane smartwatch but they just might want to check out the opinions of some critics before putting down their $349.
One of the main selling points of the Urbane is its good looks. Sure, itโs an improvement over those plastic fitness bands but some experts are not impressed. A guy named Kellex from DroidLife found the choice of metal or rubber straps to be cheap and cheesy, taking issue with the size, luster, glossy coating and lack of silver or rose gold options. He sure sounds hard to please.
Holding an opposing opinion was Phil Nickinson of Android Central who considered the Urbane to be one the โbest designedโ Android Wear watches, giving kudos to the chrome body and brushed metal bezel.
DroidLife does give props to the Urbaneโs smooth performance, which can be credited to the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, but called the battery life merely โdecent.โ On the other hand, The Verge lauded the deviceโs battery life as superior to most of the competition including the Apple Watch.
According to Android Central, if you want an Android Wear smartwatch that looks like a real watch, the LG Urbane is for you provided you donโt mind spending $349 for a device that wonโt impress anybody. DroidLife disagrees, pointing out that the Urbane has no spectacular features, is too big, is uncomfortable and doesnโt even make their list of the top three Android Wear watches.
So what will the savvy smartwatch buyer do? Probably wait until later in the year to see what other tech companies and watchmakers have coming up. The rest of 2015 should be very interesting!
