It must be an established fact by now that Hublot pushes boundaries in horology. The new Big Bang Jeans in ceramic is a weekenderโs dream come true. The watch has that intrinsic cool factor without having to try. Let me first state that Hublot isnโt the first brand to release a watch with a strap made from jeans material, but it certainly is the first to charge over $15,000 for it. There are a few brands out there, like Michele Watches for one, that have offered a jeans strap but most high end brands just see that as a line too risky to cross.
Hublot did a Big Bang Jeans a couple years ago in stainless steel but that was just for women. At that time, I thought that was more of a novelty item than anything else. How wrong was I, the watches were selling like proverbial hot cakes. The high demand for the jeans watches has led Hublot to create a version for the guys. This model uses ceramic, which right now is super trendy as a case material. The black exterior and the dark denim go extremely well together. Hublot creates the case with a case dimension of 44mm, which is big but still accessible to regular guys.
Hublot takes it one step further and actually uses dark denim on the dial as well.ย The denim used is made harder by Hublot making it easier to work with. The hour makers and hands are skeletonized, serving to show off more of the dial and chronograph subdials. As with most other Hublot chronographs, this one carries the chrono minutes at 3 and the chrono hours at 6. At the 9 Oโclock position is a continuous seconds register. Completing the dial is a neat date aperture at the 4:30 position.
This model is outfitted with the self-winding HUB4100, which is comprised of 252 parts. The watch boasts a water resistance of 100 meters, making this watch a perfect choice for daily wear. To spice things up, Hublot makes this series limited to just 250 pieces worldwide.
