Go “Back to the Future” with the RJ-Romain Jerome DeLorean-DNA Burnout
This week marked the 30th anniversary of the film classic “Back to the Future,” which told the tale of slightly mad scientist Doc Brown and his pal Marty McFly time traveling in a DeLorean sports car. RJ-Romain Jerome is celebrating the occasion with a limited edition timepiece as sleek and racy as the automobile in the movie.
The RJ-Romain Jerome DeLorean-DNA Burnout watch takes its name from the track left by a tire’s rubber meeting the asphalt at a high rate of speed and draws inspiration from the original DMC-12 auto. The 46mm case features a brushed steel bezel crafted from the same elements as the iconic sports car’s bodywork while the bright orange indexes of the small seconds counter recall the auto’s dashboard.
The RJ-Romain Jerome DeLorean- DNA Burnout has a mechanical 23-jewel self-winding movement with a power reserve of 42 hours and water resistance to 30 meters. Functions include central hours and minutes plus small seconds at 9 o’clock. A 30-minute counter is located at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock.
The hour and minute hands are rhodiumed, satin-brushed and beadblasted with superluminova “blue emission.” The strap is made from upholstery black leather with anthracite grey stitching and finished by a buckle of polished stainless steel with folding clasp.
Not every aficionado of “Back to the Future” will be able to add this unique timepiece to his collection of memorabilia since only 30 pieces will be made. The $17,500 price tag might also be a problem but at least the RJ-Romain Jerome DeLorean-DNA Burnout watch is still cheaper than a real vintage DeLorean and requires much less upkeep.
