Glycine Launches New 44mm Incursore Styles

by WatchReport

Glycine-3901-cali Glycine is going back to its roots. The nearly 100 year old Swiss brand is launching  new Incursore styles measuring 44mm wide with options for either a hand winding ETA 6498, or an automatic ETA 2824-2. There is a selection of dials and strap options, our  favorite being the Ref. 3901 featuring a black California dial (roman numerals on the top, arabic on the bottom), sub seconds at six o’clock (thanks to the ETA 6498) and an astounding 10.3mm case height.

You can also get a Panerai style dial with either the automatic or the hand-winder. The automatic version is listed at 11.25mm with an exhibition caseback, the extra depth is due to the rotor that winds the automatic movement. The Ref 3900 and 3901 are 44mm wide, water resistant to 100m, and can be purchased with a bracelet or your choice of black or brown leather straps. Glycine first launched the Incursore models in 1998 and they believe they are returning to their roots with these new models. The only drawback we can see is that Glycine has decided to fit the new 3900 and 3901 with AR coated mineral glass as opposed to a sapphire crystal. At a retail price of nearly $1000 USD, a sapphire seems to be table stakes these days. Aside from that, the new Incursore is a compelling piece.

Only recently did I have a chance to check out Glycine in person. Gorgeous pieces, and this one looks to be a winner.
