This particular example comes with a black calf leather strap that measures 24mm at the lugs and tapers to 22mm at buckle. The strap is very nice quality and feels great against the wrist, but I almost would have liked the brown leather that is on the back side used instead of the black, as I think it would have looked great and matched with the brown/copper on the dial. The buckle is signed and is decent. It’s thicker than your standard stamped thumbnail buckle, but for this price, I think a higher grade buckle could be used.
On the wrist, the Glycine Airman 17 Sphair is very comfortable. The strap wraps around the wrist, and the long lug to lug looks good on my 7.5 inch wrist. For many, the Airman 17 Sphair might be oversized, and I would say it is somewhat my limit, but I just love the way it looks and feels on the wrist. It’s also not very heavy, weighing in at only 106 grams, which I think adds to its comfort.
It’s no secret to many that know me that I am a dive watch guy, but I have wanted to check out the Glycine Airman 17 Sphair since its release last year.
And my conclusion is…… I love it.
Yes, I would prefer a little more custom buckle, and possible a thicker strap, but I am a leather strap guy and leather straps can always be switched out. This is a great looking hybrid watch in my opinion. The Glycine Airman 17 Sphair is no doubt an aviation watch, but it gives that appearance of a dive watch with the rubber bezel, the large crowns, and it’s also 200m water resistant as well. It has a great presence on the wrist without being thick, and just has a great look to it. Glycine really created a unique variation of the Airman series with this model. A great cross between rugged and elegant, traditional and modern.
Please check out the video review for a closer look at the Airman 17 Sphair.
Thank you to Glycine USA for providing this model for review.

This does look very enticing. Shame it’s so expensive (way out of my means), I’d love to have this design/look on my wrist.
