The non-crown side of the case is fairly typical, but it does provide a great look at the high polished nature of the case. The model is a chronograph; so on the crown side of the case one will find a push pull crown along with the chronograph function pushers. The crown measures approximately 6mm in diameter and has an interesting yellow cabochon on the edge, which I believe is a feature found on all Fromanteel watch models. The crown is easy to engage and is quite firm when extended into either setting position, with no play or wiggle. The function pushers are high polished like the rest of the model and measure approximately 5mm in diameter. The top pusher activates and deactivates the chronograph while the bottom resets. The function pushers, also known as correctors, can also be used to recalibrate the chronograph features, which is a nice feature of the Swiss Ronda 5030.D movement housed within the case.
The watch model is fitted with a 1.3mm thick sapphire crystal with an interior Anti-Reflective (AR) coating. The AR appears to be blemish free, providing a crystal clear view of the beautiful dial. The dial opening measures a substantial 37.5mm, providing an even greater view of the elegant cream dial. Many chronograph dials have the appearance of being overcrowded, typically a result of over-branding and inappropriate fonts. However, the Globetrotter layout is very clean and uncluttered overall. The branding is minimal and applied in a way to add to the overall elegant appearance of the watch.
All of the hour markers are applied and have the same high polished finish to correspond with the watchcase. Along with the typical hour, minutes, seconds and numerical date, the other functional features on the dial include a chronograph that measures seconds, minutes and hours, as well as, tachymeter indications (on the chapter ring) for measuring speed. The chronograph layout is fairly typical with the central second hand, the thirty (30) minutes counter to the right of 9 o’clock position and the twelve (12) hour counter above the 6 o’clock position. The running small second hand for the time is positioned to the left of the 3 o’clock position. A legible white date window is positioned between the 4-5 o’clock positions.
The handset amps up the elegant appearance of the dial. The hour, minute and some of the sub-dial hands are high polished steel corresponding with the case and hour marker finish. Fromanteel adds a touch of flair, opting for a blue Chrono sweep and Chrono hour hand, which really provides a great color contrast on the dial. There is absolutely no lume anywhere on the dial or handset as this model is more of a pure dress watch fitting for the executive boardroom or a night out on the town.
The case back is screwed down and is fairly typical with various specifications of the watch etched surrounding the perimeter. The etched central globe, a unique feature of the Fromanteel models, has some historical detail about the company located in that location. I really appreciate all the extra detail provided on the case back. Below the case back is a quality battery powered Swiss Ronda 5030.D quartz movement, which has been accurate as anticipated since delivery.
