Fossil Launches Q Line of Connected Watches
The current trend among makers of traditional timepieces seems to be leaving the geeky do-it-all smartwatches to the tech companies and instead creating more attractive watches that incorporate a few of the most popular features from wearable devices. That’s just what Fossil has done with the brand’s new Q line of connected watches.
The Fossil Q line includes several models for different tastes with a variety of functions. The Q Reveler offers a short list of features such as distance tracking, notifications and the user’s choice of apps. The price is $125.
The Q Dreamer is an exceptionally stylish fitness tracker that gives the user a choice of a dressy leather band or sporty silicone band. Features include vibrating alerts and customized color notifications for contacts and apps. The Q Dreamer is also $125.
The Q Grant offers more features like the ability to connect with the user’s smartphone and listen for important messages. LED indicators located on either side of the watch can deliver alerts for texts, emails, phone calls and app news. Prices for the Fossil Q Grant are $175 to $195. All three are available on October 25.
The snazzy centerpiece of the Fossil Q collection is the Q Founder, which is described as “a powerhouse packed into an elegant package.” This collaboration between Intel and Google allows the user to customize watch faces with a swipe and show important information instantly. The Q Founder is compatible with Android or iOS and is priced at $275 and up. This one won’t be out this month but Fossil promises that it will hit stores in time for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
These Fossil watches are powered by an Intel chipset and run Android Wear. All Q watches can connect to the popular fitness apps Google Fit, Health, UA Record by Under Armour and UP by Jawbone.
