Fabergé Unveils New Ladies’ Watches
When you hear the name Fabergé you’re more likely to think of collectable eggs and vintage accessories but the brand has been placing its legendary name on watches for quite a while now. Originally known for creating its ornate jeweled eggs for the pre-World War I Russian aristocracy, the house of Fabergé later expanded into a global luxury brand and began creating contemporary collections in 2009.
The luxury house has named its latest line of timepieces “Lady Fabergé” and they’re designed to please female fans of the Fabergé style. All watches in the collection share one unusual component—a ring located at the heart of the case. From there the pieces in the Lady Fabergé line sport different finishes, materials and colors.
Fabergé aficionados are likely to notice that the decorative note on the crown has been seen before, on the brand’s classic cigarette cases. Here the design bears a gleaming moonstone. The domed shape of the Lady Fabergé sapphire crystal also echoes the look of earlier pieces from the house.
Lady Fabergé watches are available with a choice of two dials. The face of the more traditional model bears hour markers and indications in the shape of a crown. The contemporary version sports a subdial that provides the basis for a skeleton appliqué with Roman numerals that give the appearance of being set deep inside the watch.
All watches in the Lady Fabergé collection are designed to flatter the feminine wrist, from the ring of diamonds adorning the bezel to the slender lugs that recall the first watches for women created by founder Peter Carl Faberge.
Like all things Fabergé, these ladies’ watches are elegant, luxurious and expensive. Any collector of the female persuasion will want to add at least one of these pieces to her Fabergé collection.
